An apostille is a certification that verifies the authenticity of notarized documents for use in a foreign country. It is typically required for legal documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, employment papers, and diplomas when they are being used outside of the country in which they were issued. This is done to ensure that the document will be accepted as valid in the country where it is being presented.
We handle documents from all states. Due to post-pandemic delays and staff shortages, current process times in state offices can be as long as 4 weeks. Additional time is needed if country of destination Embassy legalization is required. Plan accordingly. Use our Expedite services where available.
Concerning notarized documents: Signed documents must be notarized according to the State law of where the document originated. It is critical to be sure your document is properly notarized or you risk rejection. Every state requires a full notary public statement as required by law. Notaries should be advised that they must use the full and complete, statutorily appropriate notarial blocks for all documents they notarize. Fulfillment of your request does not guarantee that your documents will be accepted. The receiving party is the ultimate authority on whether your documents are acceptable.
