There is a 2-Step process in remote online notarization's to verify your identity. 

They are Credential Analysis & Knowledge Based Authentication (KBA). 

You will not pass this identification validation if you do not meet the following requirements:

1. Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
2. 18 years of age or older
3. Possess a valid gov't issued ID such as driver's license, state ID card, or passport

For non-U.S. citizens, a process using Biometric technology can be used for identification. Facial recognition is used to verify identity.
